Prabal Pramanik’s Academy of Arts has conducted a Durga Puja programme in Kangra and Chamba. At Tara Devi Mandir, Birta, Kangra, Himachal Pradesh an exhibition of different images of Durga by Prabal Pramanik in Devasthanakala paper cutting art was held on 29th September 2008. Devasthanakala is an art that requires the ability to cutout complete compositions from paper without drawing or tracing and has traditions reaching hundreds of years. During the show, Ustad Kalakar Prabal Pramanik gave live demonstrations of his paper cutting art.
The programme was inaugurated at Tara Devi Mandir by His Holiness Lalbaba by lighting the lamp. Many school children and local people enjoyed this exhibition at the Temple of Tara Devi on this auspicious day of Mahalaya.
In the evening at Tara Devi Mandir animation movies made by Prabal Pramanik’s Academy of Arts were screened. A large crowd attended the movie shows.
