The sub-mountainous area of Dhar, bordering Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir is charmingly picturesque. I as an artist often find this a major inspiration for my creative presentations. The vast panoramic views of mountain stretching out over the horizon create an impressive backdrop for the foliage clad hills. The studio in this region situated in the lap of nature is ideal for a landscape painter. Landscapes, painted directly form nature have a special artistic appeal that can never be expected from second-hand copies from photographs. Hills have lured artists in various countries and records of mountain scenario abound in the art world. I am probably the first artist who created detailed pictorial presentation of the hills of "Kandi" area. The drawings, water colours, pastels and oils depict the landscapes that I made from my studio and places near about. The landscapes portray a region of great scenic beauty. Unfortunately, due to the lack of human sensitivity a lot of the sylvan beauty has been destroyed in recent years. Wanton destruction of woodlands, have caused the actual forest area to shrink resulting in loss of flora and fauna of this region. The changing values and lifestyles of the people of these hills make it absolutely necessary to keep a visual record. These pictorial records provide a idea of an artist's emotional attachment with these hills and allow the visitor to travel in this very personal world, a world that redefines the relation between man and nature.
