The year 2010 is very important for those who are interested in culture, especially the literary arts, as the one hundred and fiftieth birth centenary of Rabindranath Tagore, the first Nobel laureate of India is celebrated this year.
Prabal Pramanik’s Academy of Arts celebrated the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore at Kalyani Art gallery at the art complex at Bhamlada.
An exhibition on “Gitanjali” by Rabindranath Tagore was inaugurated by lighting the lamp in a ceremonial manner. A movie made by the academy on Gitanjali in Hindi was screened. The movie was a unique one on Tagore as the presentation was in a different form.
There was a seminor on Tagore at Kalyani hall. Suresh Pathania, Narsingh lal Agnigohotri, Chanda Singh Kalhon and Prabal Pramanik presented their views about the significance of Rabindranath Tagore today.
The philosophy of tagore in his poetic rendition had a greater artistic impact when coupled with the photography of Arup Chandra. This was the first time Rabindra jayanti (the birth day) of Tagore was celebrated in this area.
