Rath Yatra at Bhamlada

On 13th July for the first time in Bhamlada, "Ratha Yatra" or the charriot ride of Jagannath Deva was celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm.
Ratha Yatra was organized by Prabal Pramanik’s Academy of Arts with the active participation of local people. "Bhandara" the cerimonial feast was held first, and traditional pahari village fare was enjoyed by hundreds of villagers.
The "Ratha" or the chariot was made in the village itself by Devinder Singh. The photograph of Jagannath, Balaram and Subhadra from Jagannath Dham Puri, was worshipped by priests in proper manner.

The "Rath" went to Lakshmi Narayan Temple at Bhamlada and Started its journey to Ambikeshwar Mahadev temple at Bhatwan.
Villagers singing hymns and playing "dholaks" accompanied the rath in a procession. Devraj Salotranath led the "Kirtan" team. Many sat in a tactor trolly that was a part of the procession. The "Rath was pulled by the devotees along the road to Ambikeshwar Mahadev temple.

At Ambikeshwar Mahadev temple the devotees received prasad and sang Kirtans.
Dandiswami Ashokananda Ji gave a spiritual discourse. This is the first time any "Ratha Yatra" was conducted in District gurdaspur in Punjab, This programme was a fine example of community spirit and soliderity.

On 20th July "Ultaratha" or the return journey of Jagannath Deva, Balaram and Subhadra was celebrated. Devotees sang kirtans at Ambikeshwar Mahadev temple, Bhatwan, before starting the return Yatra. When the Ratha reached Prabal Pramanik’s Academy of Arts, the devotees led by Devraj Salotranath Sang Kirtans at Kalyani Hall at Prabal Pramanik’s Academy of Arts, at Bhamlada.
